What The Rich Teach Their Kids – That You Can Learn Too

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert KiyosakiThis has been a super popular book for several years, and I believe I know why. It’s very motivating! Robert Kiyosaki takes the reader through the financial lessons he supposedly learned growing up. On one hand was his real father(poor dad), who was very educated and worked a steady job all his life. On the other hand was his best childhood friend’s dad(rich dad), who taught him how to make money work for him. This book does not discuss detailed instructions on how to invest, nor does it give any specific instructions. So, if that’s what you’re looking for, you may look elsewhere. What the book does provide, is an outline for how the wealthy make their money and how they make it grow. You can get a much more in-depth review here.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book over the past couple of years. After purchasing the book, and after I had started reading the book, I became aware that there is some controversy surrounding the reality of some of the stories presented in the book. For instance, no-one has ever been able to figure out who “rich dad’ was. As a result, some have charged that these illustration stories are fabrications rather than actual happenings.

On the other hand, this book is highly recommended by some high profile people. Maybe it’s all in how you look at it. Dave Ramsey has mentioned this book several times on the radio as one of his favorites, and Mr. Kiyosaki has recently co-written a book with the super-rich and super-famous Donald Trump. I say make your own conclusions.
